A birthday between two generations
Pascal Wehrlein turned 32 on 18 October 2026. His official Formula E profile lists the reigning champion with two world titles, 11 victories and 24 podiums. The birthday offers a moment to examine his progress ahead of GEN4. This year’s championship was decided in London on 16 August; the birthday should not be mistaken for the date on which he won the title.
The 2026 finale: an advantage built on Saturday
The official report published on 16 August shows the importance of the opening day of the finale: pole position and victory gave Wehrlein a five-point lead over Jake Dennis. Neither scored on Sunday, leaving the final totals at 169 to 164. The outcome illustrates why a championship is assessed through the full season’s points, rather than simply the finishing order of its last race.
A career that was not a straight line
Formula E’s retrospective on 16 October recalls his start with Mahindra, his first podium at Santiago in 2019 and his first series victory for Porsche at Mexico City in 2022. His first championship followed in London in 2024. Those milestones separate stages of development: adapting, winning a race and finishing a season on top are distinct achievements.
Season figures and career figures
The official profile credits the 2025/26 campaign with three wins and six podiums alongside the 169 points. The 11 wins and 24 podiums are career totals at the time of checking, rather than results from one season. Keeping that distinction avoids misleading comparisons between a single campaign, a technical generation and the driver’s entire Formula E career.

GEN4 requires fresh validation on track
The official GEN4 specification lists permanent all-wheel drive, 450 kW in normal race mode and up to 600 kW in Attack Mode for 2026/27. These characteristics belong to the new generation rather than Porsche alone. APEX’s interpretation: the champion’s experience is a useful reference, but pace, energy management and reliability need proving again.
