The Ticktum–Barnard pairing is confirmed
Formula E announced on 22 October that Dan Ticktum will drive for Fortescue Zero Racing in 2026/27, the first GEN4 season. He will partner Taylor Barnard, whose arrival was announced on 12 October. The announcements establish an all-British pairing for the Australian project and shift attention towards preparation for its opening campaign.
Two different backgrounds for one team
Ticktum joins after a Formula E career beginning in 2021/22 and two E-Prix victories, according to the championship’s introduction. Barnard arrives after the end of his DS PENSKE chapter. In his announcement, he described the challenge of helping build a new team and turn its ambition into results. For the engineers, the next step is bringing both drivers’ feedback into a shared preparation programme.
What is known about the Fortescue structure
The entry announcement on 18 September specified the acquisition of the Penske Formula E operation and use of a Jaguar GEN4 powertrain. That release described entry as subject to FEO and FIA approval. Team identity, the origin of its operation and its technical supplier are distinct references. The driver announcements now add the sporting pairing to the project.
The first calendar reference: Jeddah
The official calendar checked on 22 October starts with two Jeddah races on 18 and 19 December 2026, within a 21-race season. APEX’s interpretation: the first useful comparisons for Fortescue will concern both drivers’ adaptation, energy management and consistent execution. Formula E experience helps frame the right questions, but the new combination’s performance needs demonstrating on track.
