A new interview about the preparation already underway
Dan Ticktum is focusing on technical preparation with Fortescue Zero Racing. In an interview published by Formula E on 7 November, he describes spending as much time as possible in the simulator to understand Jaguar’s systems and adapt to the new car. The development is his account of the work underway with the team, following the earlier announcement that he would be part of its project.
A new operation built on an existing foundation
Fortescue Zero acquired the Penske Formula E operation and will use a Jaguar GEN4 powertrain. This is the electric-championship project; Team Penske’s IndyCar results belong to a separate competition. Ticktum cites the personnel and level of investment as reasons for confidence in the team’s ability to win. Those assessments express his pre-season perspective, while its actual competitiveness will be measured in official sessions and races against the rest of the field.
Why Madrid testing matters
The championship identifies pre-season testing in Madrid on 16–20 November as the next important reference point. Ticktum expects initial development difficulties across the teams and stresses useful driver feedback, data analysis and quick problem-solving. He already has experience driving GEN4, including at Goodwood in 2026, although demonstration running provides a different context from repeated laps within a full test programme. It is that extended track work which will help establish the new operation’s baseline.
Assessing the GEN4 transition
Formula E’s technical introduction specifies permanent all-wheel drive and up to 600 kW in ATTACK MODE for the new generation. APEX analysis: adapting involves understanding power delivery and procedures as well as producing one fast lap. For a team beginning this chapter, consistent running and progress between sessions will be useful indicators. The interview sets out confidence and objectives; the first comparable results will come from track activity, rather than the strength of the driver’s expectations alone.
