A renewal announced during Grand Prix weekend

Formula 1 announced a five-year São Paulo Grand Prix extension on 7 November, keeping Interlagos on the calendar through 2035. The agreement establishes a long-term future for the Brazilian event while its 2026 edition takes place on 6–8 November. The date of each subsequent edition will depend on the calendars published for those seasons. The announcement provides contractual continuity rather than a complete timetable for the coming decade.

Investment and organisational continuity

According to F1’s release, Mayor Ricardo Nunes’s administration will continue investing to improve the experience for spectators and guests. Promoter Alan Adler emphasises the modernisation of Interlagos and the partnership with local authorities. The document does not provide a detailed budget for individual projects. APEX analysis: a longer contractual horizon offers organisers greater planning certainty, while practical progress should be assessed through the facilities and services actually delivered at each event.

The figures reported by Formula 1

The organiser reports attendance of 303,627 in 2025 against 291,717 in 2024, a difference calculated by APEX of 11,910. These are reported event-attendance figures and should not automatically be read as a count of distinct individuals. F1 also cites a R$2.3 billion economic impact for São Paulo in 2025, 9.7% above the previous record. Those economic figures are attributed to the announcement rather than an independent financial assessment undertaken by APEX.

Why Interlagos retains its place

F1 highlights a relationship with the venue spanning more than half a century and six drivers’ titles decided there, including championships won by Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton. Elevation changes and the sequence of corners contribute to the circuit’s identity alongside Brazil’s racing audience. The new contract extends that relationship; the sporting results of each future season will continue to be determined on track, separately from the commercial agreement.
