An additional competition

The Sprint is a shorter race, separate from the Grand Prix. Under the current format, its result does not set the grid for the main race. Sprint points do contribute to the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships.

The order of sessions

FP1 takes place on Friday, followed by Sprint Qualifying. Saturday features the Sprint and Grand Prix qualifying. The main race takes place on Sunday. A single practice session reduces the time available to validate setups.

Sprint points

The first eight finishers receive 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points. Do not confuse this scale with Grand Prix points. Procedures for interruptions and exceptional conditions must be checked against the season’s regulations.
