Yellow, green and red
Yellow warns of danger and requires reduced speed; overtaking is prohibited in the relevant area. Double yellow requires greater caution and readiness to stop. Green signals the end of a local restriction, while red suspends the session.
Blue and flags directed at a driver
The blue flag serves as a warning and is used during races for cars about to be lapped. The black flag, together with the driver’s number, orders a return to the pits under the regulations. Black with an orange disc signals a dangerous technical problem.
The chequered flag
The chequered signal marks the end of a race or session. It does not automatically cancel investigations or penalties. Results may remain provisional until official confirmation.
