The 2027 signing becomes a 2026 debut
Rafael Câmara will make his Formula 1 Grand Prix debut for Haas in São Paulo on November 6–8, 2026, partnering Ollie Bearman. The team confirmed the line-up in its statement dated November 4, with Formula 2 also announcing the championship leader’s promotion. His previously announced 2027 seat has therefore become an opportunity to race before the current season ends.
What Haas confirms about Esteban Ocon
Haas states that Esteban Ocon will no longer compete for the team in the 2026 World Championship. Ayao Komatsu says the discussions between the two parties remain internal. No detailed public explanation accompanies the decision, so attributing a specific disciplinary or contractual cause would exceed the confirmed information. Câmara’s new appointment explicitly concerns the São Paulo Grand Prix.
From Hirakawa in Mexico to Câmara in Brazil
On October 31, Haas announced that Ryō Hirakawa would replace Ocon for the remainder of the Mexico weekend. Formula 1 reports that the Japanese driver’s World Endurance Championship commitments have now opened the door for Câmara. The Brazilian’s preparation included an August TPC outing in the VF-25 at Portimão. Experience with a previous car should be distinguished from his competitive debut in the VF-26.
What to watch at Interlagos
APEX analysis: progress through practice, communication with engineers and building pace from session to session offer more useful reference points than setting a finishing-position target before his debut. TPC running can introduce team procedures, while a Grand Prix adds traffic and qualifying pressure. Separately, leading Formula 2 is different from having secured its championship. The two competitions need to be followed on their own terms as Câmara takes this earlier-than-planned step.
