What the investigation found

On 8 October, the FIA released its findings into power losses during the formation laps at Sepang. At low engine speeds, some cars lost more power than intended in sectors where a 250 kW reduction applied. The lost power could not be recovered in those sectors. The incident happened on 4 October; the new development is the technical explanation and mitigation plan.

Singapore and Austin: two different steps

The configuration established at Sepang will be reinstated for Singapore if similar weather conditions are expected. The FIA also plans a further wet-weather software update for the United States Grand Prix on 25 October. The statement does not claim that every possible issue has been eliminated and is not a weather forecast.

CONFIRMED · FIA investigation concluded. Reinstating the Singapore configuration depends on expected conditions.

Software validation continues

The federation will strengthen testing and verification with teams, power unit manufacturers and the standard ECU supplier. It rejects claims that the previous package had not been tested: it had undergone simulation and FP1 running at Spa and Zandvoort.

What to watch during the weekend

In APEX’s assessment, the key distinction is between the immediate configuration and a later update. Confirmation of these measures does not change the Malaysia race result or create a new penalty. Singapore’s schedule and any sporting decisions are tracked separately in the Race Hub, with sources for each update.
