Several objectives at once

Suspension helps tyres maintain contact with the track and controls chassis movement. In a racing car, it also helps maintain an appropriate aerodynamic platform. A setup must work under braking, through corners and on acceleration.

Stiffer does not automatically mean faster

A very stiff car may control ride height well on smooth asphalt but lose grip over bumps. Engineers choose springs, damping and geometry according to the circuit and tyres. The driver needs predictability, not just stiffness.

Pull-rod and push-rod

These terms describe how a rod transfers wheel movement to the suspension’s internal elements. The choice affects component packaging and airflow. The name alone does not tell you which car will be faster.
