Qualifying at 16:30 in Romania
The fight for the Singapore Grand Prix grid begins on Saturday, 10 October, at 16:30 in Romania, following a 30-minute delay. FIA Document 48, Timetable V3, and the full Formula1.com schedule list 21:30 local, or 13:30 UTC. The Grand Prix remains scheduled for Sunday at 15:00 in Romania.
Verstappen seeks another pole, but his starts remain a concern
Max Verstappen won the Sprint after taking first place in Friday's qualifying. In his reaction published by Formula1.com, however, the Dutchman says Red Bull needs to improve its starts: Russell passed him before retiring. Saturday's victory offers confidence, without determining the Grand Prix grid.
McLaren: on-track contact and FIA summons
Norris and Piastri collided on the final lap of the Sprint while fighting for fourth. Norris continued to eighth, while Piastri stopped but was still classified 14th in the provisional FIA document. Contact between the team-mates and the lost points put pressure on McLaren before qualifying.
Hearing scheduled for 14:45 in Romania
FIA Documents 47 and 46 summon Norris and Piastri respectively, together with team representatives, at 19:45 in Singapore: 14:45 in Romania. The summons concern an alleged breach of driving rules in the incident between cars 1 and 81. A summons is not a penalty. At the check for this preview, the document list did not include a verdict in this case.
What we can infer for qualifying
APEX analysis: pace in a Sprint on intermediates does not directly measure single-lap speed on slicks. If the track dries, tyre preparation and finding a clear lap can change the order. If it stays wet, adapting to grip becomes essential. Track conditions at the start of the session will matter when assessing the contenders for pole.
Ferrari remains a benchmark at the front
Hamilton and Leclerc finished the Sprint second and third. APEX interpretation: that keeps Ferrari in the conversation for the leading positions, but qualifying demands a fast lap in a different context. For McLaren, the next session offers a chance to respond on track after losing points in the intra-team collision.
Qualifying determines Sunday's grid
The Sprint and Grand Prix qualifying determine different grids. Saturday morning's result leaves the fight for the Grand Prix starting positions open: Verstappen, Ferrari and McLaren must produce a new fast lap. Sunday's grid will reflect qualifying and any applicable penalties.
